Binding Made Easy with Emily of Team Orosco

We're thrilled to kick off this round of posts from our new promo team with an easy and quick tutorial from Emily of Team Orosco. You've come to know and love Emily and her darling kids on our sample sewist team and we're excited to have her as part of our blog team this round.

My favorite Quick Binding method

1. For this binding method I like to cut my binding just under 1”. First you will serge the binding strip to your fabric RST. It should look like this. 

2. Next you will make sure the seam is facing upward. Then you will fold the binding over the seam and clip/ pin all the way down. (The raw edge will be exposed.)

3. Slowly remove pins/clips and Coverstitch or sew the binding in place!

Note: The reason that I like the strip to be just under 1” is because of it is thicker you will have quite a bit of overhang. You want it to cover the seam with just a tiny overhand. The seam gives it the thickness and look of a double fold binding.

That’s it! One of my favorite things to make is the summer sleep set from Lowland kids! My girls love light weight jammies and can wear the camis with shorts all summer! Happy sewing
