Hello fabric friends! I cannot wait to show you what I’ve been working on!
We moved at the end of last year and I’ve been dying to personalize my kids’ bedrooms. Have you ever had the perfect vision of how you want a room to turn out, but can’t find any fabric to match your vision?! It’s the worst! Either the colors are hard to coordinate, the scale of the print is off, or it’s the perfect print… on the totally wrong base. It’s like searching for a needle in a haystack. But here comes Raspberry Creek to the rescue! With their new design library and custom printing, the options for the perfect home decor fabrics are right at your fingertips.
My oldest wanted a room that didn’t look babyish but also was still bright, happy and fun. This print incorporated all her very favorite colors- something I was not able to find anywhere else. I adjusted the scale from the default of 12 to a 22 for a large scale floral. I love the huge flowers, and again, that is something you can’t easily find ready-made. I used a new-to-me (but in no way new) technique of using liquid starch to glue the fabric to the wall. I chose the poplin base to get the added width, but the quilting cotton should also work. It worked flawlessly and totally gives the illusion of wallpaper, which is exactly what I wanted!
Besides the fact that it’s completely customized, an extra (HUGE!) bonus is that it’s less than half the price of the peel and stick wallpaper you can buy on Etsy! A 24”x 96” piece of wallpaper is usually between $60-$70. If you buy 3 yards of custom fabric (a little more than 96”) it’ll be $54, BUT you’re getting 58” in width instead of 24”! Which also means fewer overlapping pieces if you’re covering a whole wall.
Amazing right? My house better watch out, I’m about to be slapping fabric up everywhere! Haha
The other custom I did in her room was the cute curtains. I used the gauze base. It hangs beautifully and I love the added texture.
For this one I did need the shop’s help since it’s a current print on the rayon challis. Did you know you can even customize the current prints if it’s not the base you want? So great! This room turned out exactly how we hoped, which is just so rewarding.
I used the Brussels Linen in the cutest pink dots. This fabric base is serious perfection in my book! Sturdy enough for light upholstery like this headboard, a desk chair, pillows, etc., but it also has gorgeous drape for curtains.
And as if that weren’t enough, you can use any extra for cute clothes! I hate being stuck with leftover heavy upholstery weight fabric that I will never be able to use for anything else. You better believe that my 2 year old is going to be getting a dress out of the leftovers!
The final touch: minky pillows for their reading chairs. I made one for both girls’ rooms along with my little boy’s room. These are the world's coziest and cuddliest pillows! Seriously. This minky is divine.
Being able to pick the prints from limitless options was so liberating! I love how much freedom this new feature on the site gives, for the world of apparel sewing but also for the home décor side! I’m thinking I should just set up a direct deposit to RCF… what’s the point of the money even making a stop in my bank account? Haha

This is gorgeous, makes me wish my daughter was still a young one.( She is 45!) And the wallpaper would be great for my sewing room. I love that print and the way to apply it as wallpaper is genius. You are very creative.
