Talking Pockets with Jessica of Genwin Design Co.

Hello RCF friends! I’m Jessica(aka Genwin Design Co.) and I’m back again and excited to talk to you about pockets!

Summer is almost officially here and I always find myself wanting to leave my purse at home so that I have one less thing to carry and keep track of. Wearing garments with plenty of pockets is my solution every summer! If a pattern doesn’t already include pockets, I will find a way to incorporate them because I find them so helpful. Not only do I love pockets, but I like them to be decent sized so that they are actually useful.

Today, I’m sharing two patterns that both have pockets included! Let’s start with the shorts. I used the amazing Light Grey and White Leopard Ponte De Roma for some nice, stable shorts. I have really been drawn to animal prints lately and I love how subtle this leopard print is! From a distance, they look like some grey shorts, but once you get up close, you can see the awesome leopard print!

I made the Sonia Estep Designs Iris Shorts because the fit is just perfect every time! I added both front and back pockets so that I have plenty of options for carrying things with me! I’ll usually throw my phone in my back pocket and any cards or cash in a front pocket so that I’m not hauling around a purse or bag!

Now we can talk about this bright, but simple top! I used the Solid Red 4-Way Stretch French Terry to make the Sonia Estep Designs Olivia dolman style top and I chose this pattern because it has a nice, big kangaroo pocket! Perfect for snacks for my kids!! Did I mention how much I love pockets? 😉 RCF’s french terry is always a go-to for me because it is so soft, vibrant, and has a great stretch! I really loved how the red looked with the subtle leopard print for a nice summer outfit!
