Hi, it’s Amanda from LoveCraftSew on the blog today to bring you some inspiration for Spring sewing! I don’t know about you but I am totally over all this cold weather and ready to sew all things warm and flowery. I am thinking if I sew for the warmer weather surely it will come!
I love to use light flowy woven fabrics for dresses and tops that will easily transition from season to season (especially for Spring!). Raspberry Creek Fabrics has a huge selection of Rayon Challis which is my favorite to achieve this type of look. You can even get CLUB prints on this base now. These fabrics are easy to work with and don’t fray as easily as something like chiffon but give you that same airy look and feel. If you have never worked with Rayon Challis before I highly recommend giving it a try, I completely fell in love with this fabric after being so nervous to try it.
I am a sucker for larger scale watercolor florals so as soon as I saw this dreamy Art Gallery print I knew it was the perfect fabric for this project! I have sewn up the Rhapsody from Love Notions a few times and loved the outcome every time so it was the perfect pairing with this floral.
I sewed a size medium for this dress and made no modifications to the pattern. If you measure between sizes I would recommend sizing down as it is a very forgiving fit. I measured between medium and large and knew that a medium would fit really well since I have sewed this pattern previously. This pattern has beautiful details that really stand out and take the dress up a notch like the back yoke with a pleat and the binding on the neckline with an optional tie. And, if dresses aren’t your preference, it includes a lovely blouse option as well.
I hope you are inspired by this look and start planning out your Spring wardrobe to keep away the winter blues! Don’t forget to share in the Facebook group as well😊
