Hi, this is Chloe of @no.idle.hands and I’m on the blog today to share with you my favorite make of RCF spring 2022 CLUB collection – a Love Notions Willow wrap dress in the gorgeous azure tropical leaf print. The Love Notions Willow is my favorite wrap dress pattern and it is on $5 feature sale today only (plus you can use my affiliate code Chloe10 for an extra 10% off).
It is no secret that I love wrap dresses and have made plenty of them in both woven and knit fabrics with a lot of different sewing patterns. While I love a traditional floaty woven wrap, over the years I’ve gravitated more towards the faux wrap in knit fabrics. The stretch in a good jersey knit or DBP really helps the wrap neckline to hug your bodice and prevent gaping. The faux wrap is easier to throw on and there’s no need to readjust/tie throughout the day – perfect for moms with little ones. I also love that they are nursing-friendly without looking gimmicky, and always reach for them when I want to look put together for a day out with the baby. All that is to say - whenever I find a print I love in knit, I immediately start to envision it in a faux wrap dress. And that’s exactly what happened when I saw the tropical leaf print in Azure!
This pretty palm leaf print is part of the “Minimal in Colour” line in the RCF Sprint 2022 collection, with coordinating marble swirl, checks and ombre stripes prints. Each print is available in 3 on-trend colorways: coral, sea foam and azure. Being a blue lover I just had to have the azure, which just looks super fresh against the white background of the cotton jersey. Large scale botanical prints are always fun but sometimes can be a bit too loud for everyday wear. However, the simple 2-tone color scheme gives this print a really modern and clean look that can be pulled off in any setting from summer resort to school pick up line.
I used my go-to faux wrap knit dress pattern – the Love Notions Willow, which is sized from XS to 5X with standard and full bust options. It comes with several sleeve options including short, long and flutter. I opted for the short sleeves with this springy print. The flutter sleeves will also be super pretty with this print but I plan to layer cardis and denim jackets over the dress, so short sleeves are more convenient. A unique feature of the Willow is the neckline options. With wrap dresses, achieving the perfect front coverage for your body type AND ensuring no gaping is EVERYTHING right? The Willow gives you 2 neckline options (higher/lower), so you can choose the right amount of coverage depending on your wearing/layering preference. In addition, for both necklines you can either add pleats to the side seam for a little extra “give”, or leave it plain for a cleaner look. I personally prefer the pleated look. I also like my neckline exactly between the high and low, so I simply graded the neckline seam between the 2 views to have my own customized coverage. The end result is the perfect wrap bodice that molds to my body with not a gaping gap in sight!
I am in love with my new springy Willow dress and can’t wait for the weather here in Virginia to warm up a little! The leaf print is so refreshing and joyful and I can’t help but thinking I need it in the coral and sea foam as well... And did I mention the Willow also has a top version? Wouldn’t it be so lovely in the marble swirl print from the Minimal in Color line?! If you’d like to get either the dress or top pattern, they are $5 today only (plus extra 10% off with code Chloe10). Both patterns work fabulously with the RCF cotton jersey / DBP / rib knit bases, and the top version will also work well with the French Terry base. The tough decision is really – which print will you pick? 😉
Until next time,
