Totally Rad Summer
With Raspberry Creek Fabrics Double Brushed Poly and Rib Knit
Hello Sewing Friends! Amy here on the blog this week, with hopes to inspire your summer play clothes! I am a full time sew from home/stay at home mom to four amazing kiddos, 12, 10, 5, and 2. We live on a farm just out of town in Southwestern Wisconsin, and enjoy so much outdoor play, farm work, and chasing chickens! This capsule collection for my little two mainly focused on purposeful play clothes that would also be fun, vibrant, and perfect for trips out as well.
I made a fun mix and match collection for my two year old that will be perfect for summer fun using the summer Club fabric collection from Krystal Winn.
First up I made a Denton Romper with pocket and color blocked hood from Little Lizard King. This pattern is perfectly loose enough for hot days, as we can pop that hood up, and it’s not too fitted.
We got into the groove with the 80’s Abstract Shapes as he took on the Swing Set and played cars in the Maisy Summer Set from Lowland Kids. Rib knit was perfect for this tank- it is SO soft and comfy! Do Rad Stuff, my people!
For a looser, relaxed summer look, I chose a Dallyn tee and Callista knee length shorts from Sustainable Cloth Company- and he chose chalk. I love the relaxed and oversize fit when it is overcast or breezy out! This later gator skater print is what inspired my whole collection for him! It is so fun for play!
The final pieces in this capsule for him I ended up working in some cotton spandex French terry for Rowan shorts. I enjoyed mixing textures and prints, using the Olive tee as my starting point, color blocked with what I had! These patterns are from Boo and Lu Sewing Group.
I couldn’t leave out Big Sister! She got an Olive tank and Nova skirt from Boo and Lu. I used the print from the skirt to applique RAD onto the tank using Apple Applique pattern. The Nova skirt is cut at the first tier so her shorts would show, a design request from her!
For her final piece, Big Sis got a Breezy Dress by Ellie and Mac, Twirl approved!
Each piece in this capsule got a special tag (or two!) from Shine Bright Label Co and they all worked so well with these retro fun Skatepark designs.
