I grew up with a quilting mother. We had quilts hanging on the walls, on the couch, on the beds and on racks. After my mom passed away, I was gifted a quilting class from my aunts. I learned the basics of how to sew on her machine, but the quilting bug didn’t quite hit. If the quilting bug hasn’t quite hit you yet either but you are interested in cuddling up with something cozy and hand made, this blog is for you!

I grabbed a faux quilt print from the designer studio by searching the keyword “patchwork”. I scaled it with the slider until the quilt squares were 6 inches. That was on the organic cotton interlock for the minimal 2 way stretch. Then I found a floral coordinating print for the backing and printed it on single-sided minky. I ran it through the wash because I have 4 small children and plan on washing the finished piece regularly.
Trim any excess fabric
Lay out floral minky backing face down on floor and tape it to the floor
Cut a piece of batting larger than the top
Lay batting on top of backing
Lay top piece face up on top

Baste in your preferred method (I used safety pins)

Quilt along the faux quilt block lines with a quilting/jeans needle

Trim the edges so the corners are squared up
Bind the edges in your preferred method**

Cozy up and enjoy!

To design your new faux quilt using the search bar on the Raspberry Creek Designer studio, a simple search for ‘quilt’, ‘faux quilt’ or ‘patchwork’ yields hundreds of results. The designer of these prints, Krystal Winn, has multiple adorable faux prints with gorgeous coordinates for accenting the backing and binding. The combinations are endless!
