How to Make a Faux Placket with Emily Orosco

Hey friends! Today I’m going to show you my favorite way to make a faux button placket. I like to add these to shirts for a little something extra when I don’t feel like making a full on button placket! 

1. First choose your pattern. On this one I used the @lowlandkids raglan PJ top. I like to project it and add a dotted line down the center with a water soluble marker. This makes it easy to center your faux placket.
2. Next I cut a rectangle. Whatever size you prefer! I usually make it a little long so that I can trim it to my preferred length later. 
3. Next I add a little glue using a washable glue stick to the bottom and fold it up. 
4. You will then add glue to one side and fold it to the center. Then the other side you will add glue and overlap as shown in the photo.
5. Now you faux placket is ready to put in place! You’ll add glue to the backside and glue it along the dotted line that you drew in the center of the front bodice. Before you glue it down you, will want to have it as low or high as you want for the length. 
6. Then you will sew it in place along the edges. I like to add an X to the bottom for stability and I like the look of it. Once it’s sewn down I trim the excess off the top around the neckline.
7. Last you will mark where you want your buttons. I usually do 3 sometimes 4 depending on size. Sew the buttons in place. 
8. Then you will finish your top and add your binding or neckband!
