If we haven’t been acquainted, I am a sewist with a profound hearing loss living in the Midwest US and a huge Raspberry Creek Fabrics fan. If we are acquainted, you may already know the only thing I love more than holiday sewing is a good sew along.
I know the last couple of years have been extremely challenging. One of the most challenging parts for me was that I cannot lip read given the protections individuals needed during this time. Since I missed even casual communication at the grocery store or my daughter’s school, the Raspberry Creek Fabrics sewing community has given me such a boost during these times.
A big part of the holidays is spending time with friends and family. Since this community is important to so many of us, I was hoping Diana and Tami would support my idea of how we can all celebrate together. I know many are still struggling. Maybe you haven’t even thought about starting to prepare for the holidays and that’s okay. This Tour, Sew Along, and Giveaway is for everyone in the community.
One of my favorite things about Raspberry Creek Fabrics is they are always engaging and inclusive of all. After all the challenges we have endured and continue to persevere through, I feel so fortunate that we can join together this year for the holiday season.
How do you win prizes?
How are we going to all sew together?
Please post in the Facebook group if you need help getting set up or have any questions.
I’ll be sewing with you this week but here are my makes so far. . .
My daughter Elise is a big help to me with my hearing loss and communicating. She spends a lot of time answering adult questions or repeating things back loudly to me. In return, she gets to make all the decisions about fabrics and clothing I make for her wardrobe. She always picks Raspberry Creek Fabrics.
Elise picked these fabrics and thought out exactly where to place them. She really loved the Sage Green and White Line Drawn Plaid Print Fabric and wanted something to match. We both liked the Sage Khaki Brown Hunter Green and Cream Christmas Market Print Fabric. It is usually pretty cold here at the holidays, so we loved how the images on the print helped us imagine how our sewing friends in warmer climates celebrate the holidays.
I used the Sloane Sweater and Resolution Bottoms from Love Notions Patterns for our pants and tops. We love these patterns for lounge wear and some of our favorite outfits to wear out. Love Notions also has a great sense of community. They are inclusive and specifically include me by captioning all the content they create. They are also a sponsor for our giveaway!
I also wanted to share with you something fun that you can do with the back yoke this pattern has. Since, the french terry and jersey knit is 4 four way stretch, you can change the orientation of the plaid, which looks visually interesting.
I am looking forward to engaging with you all week long. I’ll see you over on Instagram and in the Facebook group!
