Jodi Lopez is the Creative behind J Lopez Art & Design. A native Southern Californian, Jodi draws inspiration from the coastal views and salty ocean air.
She paints in Acrylic and Watercolor, and using her background in Graphic Design, transforms her artwork into wearable art, fabric, wall and window treatments, and home decor.
“My goal is to share joy through each design and bring life to each space. ”
Her process includes using a combination of Procreate and Photoshop to achieve a fluid and effective workflow: her goal being a finished design that feels more organic than digital.
When not designing, Jodi loves to travel with her Husband, capturing places and cultures with her camera and searching for the world’s best coffee.

I’ve dabbled a little bit in the custom designed fabric world, and I think the newest feature on Raspberry Creek Fabric’s website, the Designer Studios section, is the most incredible thing!! Any design, and scale, and substrate…it’s magical! Could this be a swimsuit, or throw pillows? Yes!
I loved the splatter prints from JLopezArt in the Design Studios. She has several colors, and coordinates for many of them. But my daughter and I decided to try the black version, and the coordinating diagonal stripe. I printed on Sweatshirt fleece, and Tri Blend jersey. I think if you printed on double brushed poly, or rib knit, the black would print more saturated. But I like the more heathered look, and how they both printed similarly, which is nice to know if you’re using different substrates in the same garment.
Tri Blend was new to me. It sewed up really nicely, and I think it’s a great t shirt fabric. Much more of a good drape, without any stiffness, from cotton Lycra, but still sturdy enough to not stretch out of shape while wearing.
I made the Styla Marin for an on-trend cropped boxy tee. The stripes were fun to work with, and if I had more fabric, and more time, I might have color blocked a little more. The pocket I cut sideways for some stripe play.
The Styla Sausalito is a good dolman sweatshirt. I sized up one from her measurements for a more oversized look and feel. The sweatshirt fleece doesn’t have a ton of stretch, so I wanted this to be easily comfortable! The bands are cotton rib knit.
My wishlist of designs is full, and the endless possibilities keep calling me, so I know I’ll be back!
