I’m on the blog today to share my love for the Air Flow fabric. When Diana first shared details about the Air Flow fabric, she mentioned it didn’t wrinkle. That right there sold me! I only like to iron when I am sewing. I’ve been wearing my first make with it for months, and I never have to iron it. This time I decided to not keep the Air Flow fabric for myself.
So, what is better than one Air Flow dress? Two Air Flow dresses! I love that the Air Flow fabric is easy to wear which makes it perfect for both adults and kids.
For my daughters’ dresses, I used the Mini Fringe Pattern from Chalk and Notch Patterns. I paired the pattern with the Light Dusty Blue Rust Olive and Periwinkle Floral Air Flow Fabric.
If you love the idea of Air Flow, but fear it is hard to sew with, let me put your mind at ease. Air Flow is slightly more structured than Challis, so it is an easier place to start if you are looking for the same feel and drape.
Air Flow is easy to sew with if you are mindful of a few things. First, be careful in the cutting process. I use pattern weights to help my fabric not shift during cutting. I also make sure to not let the excess fabric pull down the pieces I am currently cutting. Next, check your machine’s setting with a scrap piece of fabric first. I find I need to lower the tension on my machines. Once I establish the best settings for my machines, the sewing part is smooth.
