Jill Oconnor Cheltenham, United KingdomMy design journey and how I came to designing patterns has been so exciting and I'd like to share it with you briefly: A number of years ago I gave up my 9 to 5 job, sold everything I owned, including my house and flew to India on a one way ticket. I stepped out of one world into another, a world full of unlimited possibilities and the opportunity to create joy.
My time in India gave me an overwhelming passion for design and colour. I dreamed of creating beautiful designs, but first I grew a garden and then I started to draw . . . .
And so . . . . now living in the beautiful English Cotswolds, inspired by nature and my own garden I hand draw and paint many of my own flowers. Working with colour, texture and form live in the garden is a huge challenge and to bring this knowledge into my designs is so exciting.
All my artwork is either hand drawn with pen or hand painted with gouache or watercolour. I love to create movement and flow in my patterns and combine vibrant colour palettes for a fresh take on florals. I have travelled extensively around the world and love to explore different cultures, especially their history in the arts. I love to translate different cultural influences into my design style.
