Apart of Erica Catherine's US State Flower Collection, the Yellow Jasmine Flower represents the State of South Carolina. The dainty yellow flower is shown on top of a purple color background.
The Yellow Jasmine Flower was adopted as the state flower in 1924 and can be found on the State quarter. An icon across the state, this flowering vine can be found climbing trees, fences and even houses. Though it's name is sweet, all parts of the plant are quite poisonous. Deer and other wildlife will avoid the plant, making it a great option for helping to deter wildlife from your gardens. The sweet fragrance of the jasmine flower is a signal that winter has gone and spring is here! The jasmine flower was not only picked for the beauty and fragrance but it was said during state legislation that "it's delicate flower suggests the pureness of gold, its perpetual return out of the dead winter suggests the lesson of the constancy in, loyalty to, and patriotism in the service of the State."
Inspired by the natural and antique details that call to Erica's Old soul, she aims to bring that special spirit to all of her designs. Each drawing is created by hand using a mixture of graphite drawing with watercolor layering over the top to create the ethereal and vintage inspired work that harks back to turn of the century botanical illustration.
