The trellis motif is a traditional element and can be found in designs from all eras. William Morris made this motif his own. He simplified the trellis to perfect squares, drew some lines simulating wood grain without suggesting depth, added some climbing roses and blue birds and created a classic.


William Morris (1834–1896) was one of the greatest creative figures of the 19th century. As a visionary designer, as well as a manufacturer, writer, artist, and socialist activist, he pioneered the Arts and Crafts movement of the Victorian era
William Morris was an extraordinary man whose achievements were visionary. Today he is best known as a designer of wallpaper and fabrics, and with it notecards, wrapping paper, scarves, DIY projects, home decoration, upholstery fabrics and much more. His wallpaper and fabric designs have been in continuous production and on-trend since he produced his first wallpaper in 1864.
Willam Morris' designs, based on natural shapes and patterns, appeal to a wide audience and are suitable for both a historic and modern home.
