The nick name Mock Orange comes from the fragrance the blooms give off that is similar to that of orange blossoms. The Syringa can be found along streams, dry ravines, and canyons making is adaptable for quite a few types of soil types. They range from British Columbia to North California, over to Idaho and western Montana.
