Designed by: Erica Catherine Illustration

Apart of Erica Catherine's US State Flower Collection, the apple blossom represents both Michigan and Arkansas. The pink flowers are shown on top of a yellow color background.Β

The Apple Blossom was adopted as the state flower of Arkansas in 1901 through the general assembly. At the time Arkansas was the leading state in apple production. It was once called "the land of the big red apple." Apple Blossoms start out pink and slowly fade to white as the season progresses. From April to May you can see Arkansas flush with these florals awaiting for their time to grow into apples. After these beautiful blooms are pollinated in the spring they will develop into fruit. Apple Blossoms are often symbolic of heady love, peace, and a long life. Making this flower the perfect icon for Arkansas even after it's Glory days of production across the state has declined.

The Apple Blossom was adopted as the state flower of Michigan in 1897. Michigan ranks third in the country for apple production. the largest apple picked from a tree came from Caro, Michigan and weighed 3 pounds, 2 ounces! Apple Blossoms start out pink and slowly fade to white as the season progresses. From April to May you can see Michigan flush with these florals awaiting for their time to grow into apples. After these beautiful blooms are pollinated in the spring they will develop into fruit. Apple Blossoms are often symbolic of heady love, peace, and a long life.

Inspired by the natural and antique details that call to Erica's Old soul, she aims to bring that special spirit to all of her designs. Each drawing isΒ created by hand using a mixture of graphite drawing with watercolor layering over the top to create the ethereal and vintage inspired work that harks back to turn of the century botanical illustration.
